Expansion to 2-series Bank Identification Numbers (BINs)

TAM and eTAM version 11.5.10 (and above) will support the new MasterCards being issued in the coming months. The following is an excerpt from MasterCard® explaining the situation.

“Bank Identification Numbers (BINs), which are the first six-digits of the account number, are fundamental to payments. They identify the issuing institution for the account and ensure that each transaction is routed correctly.

MasterCard® has received an additional range of 2-series numbers to add to the 5-series that they currently provide. The 2-series BINs operate in the same way as the 5-series and MasterCard has made changes to our systems to accommodate the new numbers. Readiness for the 2-series across our issuers, merchants and other partners is tracking on target dates listed below.”

MasterCard® customer financial institutions and merchants can expect to be issued 2-series BINs starting in 2017.  For more information, and to read the complete notice from MasterCard, click the link below:

Why is this important to me as a TAM User?

The changes being made by MasterCard® have also required changes to The Assistant Manager™ to support them in some configurations.  These changes to TAM affect users that meet the following criteria:

  1. Have licensed and implemented the Credit Card Authorization module. If your credit sales are processed separately outside of TAM, and not integrated in TAM, this notice does not apply to you.

If your organization meets the above criteria, you must upgrade to Version 11.15.10 or greater before January 1, 2017 (or dates specified by MasterCard®). This new version can be downloaded from tamretail.com at the Support link.

Important! This upgrade is only available to customers with an Annual New Version Subscription in force.  If your TAM subscription agreement has lapsed, please contact your account representative immediately.
